B04 - Investigation of the Ultrafast Dynamics of Heteropolycycles with Multidimensional Femtosecond Spectroscopy

Subject Area Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Interfaces and Liquids – Spectroscopy, Kinetics Dr. Buckup – PCI, Uni HD

Project Description

Within the scope of this project, we will explore the initial steps in the ultrafast dynamics of Singlet-Fission and investigate how molecular structure and packing dictate reactive rates, relaxation pathways, electronic couplings, loss-channels and eventually efficiencies. In order to address such different molecular and material responses in various time scales, we will perform complementary time-resolved spectroscopy methods on molecular systems with designed chemical and geometrical structures. These methods will also be extended and applied to novel N-heteropolycycles with unique photophysical properties like multiradical character, stable anions, charge transfer states, etc.
